European Commission's 7th Cohesion Forum - Dods EU Briefing
On June 26 and 27, the European Commission organised the 7th Cohesion Forum. The first debate focused on the links between cohesion, investment and structural reforms. The speakers emphasised the necessity of cohesion policy for Europe and that it should be used for increasing convergence between and within European regions. Commissioner Moscovici called for the deepening of the EMU and strengthening the Eurozone as that would be in the benefit of the entire EU. Commissioner Oettinger, in his keynote speech, explained that the EU budget will face two major cuts with Brexit and new tasks that will be done at the EU level, but as this will create added value the member states should support the new tasks.
